Try StagePlayer before you buy: the Demo Show

Short answer: You can test before you rent. StagePlayer is free to download and includes a Demo Show you can run on your own computer and projector to see how digital scenery will look in your space. You can also preview each show's scenery on broadwaymedia.com.

Applies to: StagePlayer 2.x (current release) on Mac and Windows · Last reviewed: October 17, 2026

How to test

  1. Download StagePlayer from broadwaymedia.com/downloads. See Download and install StagePlayer.
  2. Sign in or create a free Broadway Media account.
  3. Open the Demo Show from the Library.
  4. Connect your projector and run it in your theatre. See Extend your display to a projector.

What to check during the test

  • Picture fills the surface and looks bright enough under your stage lighting
  • Transitions are smooth (no stutter) on your computer
  • The audience sees only the scenery, not your controls
  • If you plan to use several projectors, test that setup now; Virtual Output is still in development
