Extend your display to a projector (Windows and Mac)

Short answer: Connect and turn on the projector, then set it as an extended display. On Windows: right-click the desktop → Display settings → Multiple displays → Extend these displays. On a Mac: System Settings → Displays → Arrange, and make sure mirroring is off. On a Mac also turn on Displays have separate Spaces, or the projector may go black in full screen.
