Keyboard shortcuts in StagePlayer

Short answer: Open Tools → Shortcuts to see and change keyboard shortcuts, for example Shift + N for Next. Shortcuts must be letter keys, optionally with Shift or Option; number keys and the space bar don't work. A dedicated screen for the operator is still the recommended way to run a show.

Applies to: StagePlayer 2.x (current release) on Mac and Windows · Last reviewed: October 17, 2026

Change a shortcut

  1. In the sidebar, open Tools → Shortcuts.
  2. Next to the action, click Change.
  3. Click Enter Shortcut and press the key (for example N, or Shift + N).

Rules

  • Letter keys only, optionally with Shift or Option
  • Number keys and the space bar won't work in 2.x

StagePlayer 3.0 (beta)

3.0 adds built-in shortcuts: GO (Space), Blackout (Shift+B) and Pause (Shift+P), plus custom shortcuts. See StagePlayer 3.0 beta.
