Which cable to use between computer and projector
Short answer: Use a high-speed, gold-plated HDMI cable no longer than 50 feet. For longer runs, don't use a longer HDMI cable; use CAT6 network cable with an HDMI adapter on each end. Keep the computer as close to the projector as practical.
| Distance from computer to projector | Use |
|---|---|
| Up to 50 feet | High-speed, gold-plated HDMI cable |
| More than 50 feet | CAT6 cable with an HDMI adapter (often sold as an "HDMI extender") at each end |
Why
Long or low-quality HDMI cables can lose signal, add delay, cause glitches, or not be recognized at all. Shorter runs mean fewer things that can fail during a show.
Check the projector input
After connecting, use the projector's remote to select the input that matches the port you used (for example HDMI 1 or HDMI 2).
Broadway Media sells connection hardware for runs under 50 feet and from 50 up to 200 feet: broadwaymedia.com.
